Brisbane’s Chifley at Lennons, located in the heart of the city, has begun its redevelopment construction into the world’s first NEXT Hotel.
This is a new flagship hotel brand of SilverNeedle Hospitality, designed to appeal to the “modern business traveller”, with the multimillion dollar project to include a new 300 room NEXT Hotel and exclusive luxury retail space.
“We are very excited to be entering the construction phase for NEXT Brisbane,” said SilverNeedle Hospitality managing director and group chief executive officer Iqbal Jumabhoy.
“This project will bring many benefits to retailers, businesses, residents and visitors while providing much needed hotel rooms and food and beverage offerings in its iconic location.”
One of Australia’s largest construction companies, Hutchinson Builders, has taken on the redevelopment, which may provide opportunities for those looking for labour hire in Brisbane.
The hotel is situated in a prime location, only a short walk from the Brisbane Convention Centre, the Queensland Art Gallery, the South Bank Parklands and the Brisbane Botanical Gardens.
Brisbane lord mayor Graham Quirk said that the investment by SilverNeedle is a “great step in the right direction”, ensuring the city can comfortably cater to the growing number of business and leisure tourists, and accommodate the G20 Leaders Summit in 2014.
