Evolution’s new gold, silver and copper mine is set to provide opportunities for labour hire in Queensland after the $200 million Mt Carlton mine was opened today (April 10) by Premier Campbell Newman.
Located in the Burdekin region, south-east of Townsville, the mine will provide 135 full time jobs during production and provide an ‘economic boost’ to Queensland.
“The LNP has identified the resources sector as a key pillar of the Queensland economy and this mine demonstrates how resource developments can drive economic prosperity for our regions,” Mr Newman said.
“We are committed to cutting red tape, fast-tracking investment in the resources sector and maximising local business opportunities.”
This is the fourth mine that Evolution has opened in Queensland, joining its gold mines in Cracow, Mount Rawdon and Pajingo, with the company investing another $28 million to “further exploration” in the state.
“As a North Queenslander I’m particularly pleased with the company’s commitment to local employment and businesses which will benefit towns such as Bowen, Ayr and Townsville,” Natural Resources and Mines minister and member for Hinchinbrook Andrew Cripps said.
