With past participants in the program achieving an impressive 83% rate of ongoing employment and a further 12% going on to further training programs, they have good reason to be optimistic.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) is a Queensland Government funded program aimed at providing essential work place skills for disadvantaged job seekers, including young people and those who have been long term unemployed. The program offers real work place skills for a range of industry and employer requirements including construction, boating, landscaping, conservation management and many more.
Recently three organisations (Reclink Australia, BUSY At Work and RSEA) have come together to contribute to successful outcomes for the program participants, which will go a long way in supporting more Queenslanders into sustainable employment.
BUSY At Work (who provide the participant signups under the program), partner with Reclink Australia, a community based organisation that provide a range of social-inclusion programs, including programs to support disadvantaged persons into employment. Reclink and BUSY At Work deliver Skilling Queenslanders for Work projects across the Beaudesert, Logan, Caboolture, Crestmead and Bundaberg regions.
“The Reclink Australia Linking Employment Pathways Jimboomba project engaged 28 participants in either a Construction or Conservation and Land Management Traineeship. This project assisted renovations at the Jimboomba United Football Club and bushcare regeneration projects at various nature reserve sites in conjunction with Logan City Council. The graduation ceremony was held on October 4, 2019 with Linus Power MP State member for Logan at the event for presentation of certificates. From the 28 trainees, 26 completed their full traineeship and so far 23 have gone on to further employment and another 3 have moved into further study and training. A huge thank you to our partners BUSY at Work, Greening Australia and All Trades Queensland. This is truly a fantastic outcome and a demonstration of a successful Skilling Queenslanders for Work project funded by the Queensland Government.”
Recently Reclink and BUSY were delighted to also partner with RSEA, specialist providers of work safety gear, who are generously providing PPE work wear for all course participants at a heavily discounted rate.
