Construction is due to get underway on one of Queensland’s largest housing developments – Ripley Valley – over the coming months, with the first residents expected to move in next year.
Developer Sekisui House – Japan’s largest home building company – confirmed that civil works will kick off on the first stage of the project this year.
“In the coming months, the community can expect to see construction hoarding being assembled and an increase in the presence on site of engineering, surveying and construction staff,” a spokesperson for the company told APN Media.
“Sekisui House plans that its project sales and information centre will be operational early 2014, with the first residents to be welcomed later in the year.”
The development – which may generate opportunities for apprenticeships in Queensland – will be Australia’s largest master-planned community and home to approximately 120,000 people.
Located just five kilometres from Ipswich in the western growth corridor of south-east Queensland, Ripley Valley will include about 4,000 dwellings, a town centre and interconnected parklands.
The 194 hectare project will be built in 12 stages, with the first 2,500 homes due to be constructed by 2027.
According to News Limited, Ripley Valley is expected to accommodate ten per cent of the region’s growth over the next two decades.
