The Queensland Overseas Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit organisation supported by industry and the Queensland government.
BUSY At Work is a longstanding industry partner of the Queensland Overseas Foundation, which provides the opportunity for young people to improve their career prospects and ‘broaden their vocational horizons’ by working overseas.
If you have recently completed an apprenticeship or traineeship, the Queensland Overseas Foundation scholarship could be your ticket to furthering your career overseas.
The foundation makes a limited number of scholarships available each year to help young Queenslanders make their dreams of working internationally in their chosen field a reality.
The scholarship (valued up to $7,000) gives successful applicants the opportunity to live and work overseas in a country of choice for up to two years.
Rising culinary professional Richard Ousby is a scholarship recipient from 2005 who addressed new scholarship holders earlier this year on the value of his international experience and the difference it has made to his career.
“The QOF scholarship provided me with a stepping-stone to travel and experience working with some of the industry’s best,” Mr Ousby said.
“The confidence I obtained from working alongside one of England’s noted Chef’s [sic] has been an enduring influence on my career”.
To be eligible for the scholarship you need to be a Queensland resident who has completed an apprenticeship or traineeship (Certificate III or above) in the past four years and gained relevant work experience.
