The Australian Government defines the Skills Needs List as “Trades experiencing persistent skills shortage” which is based on detailed labour market research conducted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations”. By 2015 there will be a shortage of 240,000 qualifications in Australia and the Australian Government uses financial incentives to encourage businesses to curb the shortage and employ more people to that particular trade or industry.
