First year electrical apprentice, Martin Green is a young man on a mission with a bright future ahead of him.
The enthusiastic 18 year old is now nine months into his Certificate III in Electrotechnology with the Bundaberg Regional Council and very much enjoying his new work environment, learning from the tradesmen around him.
Having completed a Certificate II in Engineering during his senior year with Shalom College, Martin said he always had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to do with his life.
“After doing work experience with the council and other employers I was fairly certain I wanted a career in the electricity industry.”
“I really enjoy working on industrial plant and the other tradesmen are always willing to share their knowledge. You get to work on different equipment and there is always something new to learn each day,” Martin said.
During the first six months of his training Martin has been learning about on-the-job safety and the correct use of hand and power tools. As he progresses through his apprenticeship Martin will hone his trade skills on various pieces of council equipment including single and three phase motors, switchboards, air conditioning as well as sewerage treatment and water plant.
