BUSY Schools is the brain child of The BUSY Group Ltd, a not for profit organisation which has been delivering employment and training solutions over 40 years.
The BUSY Schools model provides Year 11 and 12 students, who aren’t suited to traditional school systems, the required school curriculum studies in addition to practical accreditation training for trades and industry. Students have the opportunity to start paid employment as part of a school based apprenticeship and all students are guaranteed employment or entry into further training upon graduation.
Managing Director for The BUSY Group Ltd, Paul Miles stated “Many young people struggle with the traditional school model for various reasons, whether that be not fitting in with their peers or simply not aligning with a one-size-fits-all approach to academic learning. Through the well-established structures of The BUSY Group and our extensive suite of employment and apprenticeships services, young people will gain exceptional opportunities to masterplan their futures”.
“The Cairns Campus at our Skill360 location in Manunda will hopefully be the first of many BUSY Schools to open around Queensland to help young people complete their education and move into real jobs or further education or training”, Mr Miles further stated.
Michael Healy, Member for Cairns, has welcomed this announcement.
“The Palaszczuk Government’s key priority is ensuring Queenslanders have the skills and training for the future of work”.
“BUSY Schools will provide a much needed resource for kids who, for one reason or another, do not suit the traditional school models, to have a pathway to access skills and training”, he further stated.
