Young job seekers interested in working in the transport and logistics industry can now enrol in an exciting new program BUSY At Work is delivering with Careers Australia Training in Ipswich.
The five week program called Hit the Road is part of the Queensland Government funded initiative, Skilling Queenslanders for Work.
Careers Australia Training Manager, Damien Love said the first of the Hit the Road Programs had commenced at the BUSY Beat office in Ipswich on 23 November with five participants enrolled in the program.
Damien said he was very pleased with the success of the initial course so far and it was a great opportunity for the participants to secure a future in the transport industry.
“The program is a mixture of classroom based training and hands-on activities such as driving vans and loading and delivering of goods.”
“Participants can gain practical skills with on the job placement along with being able to update their resumes and learn interviewing skills.”
“Graduates from the program receive a Certificate II in Logistics and gain their Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence,” Mr Love said.
BUSY At Work Program Manager, Pauline Grant-Smith said BUSY was pleased to work with with Careers Australia Training on the Hit the Road Program.
“Careers Australia is delivering the accredited training component of the program and the BUSY Program Coordinator/Mentor will deliver one on one mentoring and life skill development presentations to the participants to ensure that they develop the skills required to be job ready”.
“BUSY At Work will be running four Hit the Road programs between now and July next year. This is a great way for job seekers aged between 15 and 24 to improve their employability and work readiness skills.”
“The most important part of the Hit the Road Program is the on-the-job training to ensure that participants get a real understanding of the physical and mental challenges associated with working in the transport industry,” Ms Grant-Smith said.
BUSY At Work CEO, Paul Miles said BUSY was pleased to partner with Careers Australia training in the Skilling Queenslanders Hit the Road Program.
“At BUSY At Work we know how difficult it can be for job seekers to adapt to a new working environment. Through the Hit the Road Program job seekers can get to know the business before they start work, allowing them to be more productive employees in the long term,” Mr Miles said.
The training for the Hit the Road Program is funded and supported by the Queensland Government through its Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work provides skills development, training and job opportunities to unemployed, disengaged or disadvantaged Queenslanders through a suite of targeted skills and training programs.
