Final week to have say on Parklands Development

The Parklands Priority Development Area (PDA) Proposed Development Scheme details the future development and infrastructure plans for the Gold Coast Parklands site, with the public only having until Friday (September 13) to submit their feedback.

Feedback from two community sessions have been generally positive, said Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Tim Nicholls.

“The redevelopment of Parklands is a significant construction project for the region, contributing vital infrastructure for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth GamesTM (GC2018) and a place for residents and businesses in the longer-term,” Mr Nicholls said.

“The Commonwealth Games Village is the catalyst for this redevelopment project and the community has an opportunity to have a say in what Parklands will develop into after GC2018.”

Mr Nicholls added that the site has the potential for a wide range of uses including housing, shops and cafes, transport infrastructure, and health, knowledge and community facilities following the games.

During the construction phase, the development may also provide opportunities for Gold Coast apprenticeships.

The public can send their submissions in writing to edq@dsdip.qld.gov.au or by mail to: Reply Paid GPO Box 2202 Brisbane QLD 4001.
