Opportunities for contractors in Queensland have been boosted, as the government seeks to carry out a housing audit in the state.
Up to 4,000 government employee properties are to be audited and the housing and public works minister Dr Bruce Flegg is offering jobs in Queensland to those qualified for the task.
He explained: “Due to the volume and varying geographical locations of the properties requiring inspections, contractors from across Queensland may be needed to complete these inspections.
“Local contractors with prior experience in the delivery of housing audits and inspections are encouraged to apply for the offer.”
In recent days, builders were asked by the state government to register their interest in the redevelopment of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
Authorities are currently looking for registrations of interest, as they are deciding how feasible it will be to redevelop the site.
The government will make contact with 26 companies on the Public Works Contract Register, who will be asked to show their interest in the project if it is to go ahead.
A shortlist will then be compiled and the builders identified on it will be asked to tender for the available work.
