Construction on an $80 million luxury tower in Surfers Paradise is expected to kick off this month – generating hundreds of jobs in the Gold Coast.
The multimillion-dollar 41-storey apartment building, to be constructed at the existing Red Rooster site on Surfers Paradise Boulevard, will boast 223 dwellings, as well as commercial space and a three level car park.
Singaporean company Ho Bee is hoping to get works underway on the project – also known as Vogue on Main – this month, News Limited reported yesterday (March 6).
The development is expected to create more than 200 construction jobs and 589 indirect positions, as well potential opportunities for Gold Coast apprenticeships.
Speaking about the project last year, Gold Coast city councillor Cameron Caldwell said the tower would revitalise the “island” site.
“At ground level, this development will create an attractive forecourt area and provide the public with better connections to surrounding streets and parkland,” Mr Caldwell remarked.
“It has been designed to ensure the amenity of the beach and adjoining open space is preserved.”
Vogue on Main is not the only project expected to create jobs in the Gold Coast, the multibillion-dollar Broadwater marine development is also likely to open up employment opportunities.
The Queensland government shortlisted four consortiums for the tourism facility this week – a major milestone of the selection process.
