Queensland has one of the longest coastlines in Australia. It is also where most of the population live, with cities and vital infrastructure all clustered along the shore.
However, the city’s CBD may soon be on people’s minds, since the Southport area was designated a priority growth zone late last year. Since then, the area has seen roughly $200 million in investments planned for the region.
In light of these concerns, the Townsville City Council has recently announced the upgrading of the city centre’s water system to meet growing demand from residents living in the area.
Transport projects are among the most important civil construction initiatives for big cities. Not only does this work provide a range of advantages for businesses working in the area, they also require specialised skills for their construction to go smoothly.
One of these has recently moved towards the construction stage – the Gateway Motorway upgrades in Nudgee. This project, funded by the Queensland and federal governments, has confirmed a contractor for the first stages of construction, which will involve undertaking earthworks in the region.
The state has recorded the highest employment growth rates in the country, with opportunities increasing considerably in the last year. The ABS figures showed that 65,000 jobs have been created in Queensland in the last year.
Because of this importance, schools will be vital to the ongoing success of Queensland’s economy. To meet predicted demand, the state government has recently rolled out plans for future schools, with around 100 needed by 2031.
These findings come from the recently-released National Visitor Survey which tracks the tourism industry in Australia.
However, one major development is having a big impact on where these jobs are carried out, with the future of construction likely to move off site and into more controlled environments.
