Shift in part-time employment continues

Despite full-time employment increasing 41,500 to 8,126,900 and part-time employment decreased 31,700 to 3,812,000 the Bureau Program Manager says the trend was still firmly towards part-time instead of full-time employment.

Gold Coast Employers asked to employ 101 School Leavers and Youth in Six Weeks

In one of the most ambitious youth employment campaigns ever undertaken on the Gold Coast, BUSY At Work has set itself a target of placing 101 Gold Coast Year 12 school leavers and youth into apprenticeships and traineeships in six weeks.

The GC101 Apprenticeship campaign was launched today by Federal Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills and Federal Member for McPherson, the Hon Karen Andrews MP.

Tourism boom could create 20,000 jobs by 2020

According to Tourism Research Australia data, the Queensland’s tourism industry already generates $23 billion a year and contributes 7.5 per cent of gross state product. It supports approximately 220,000 jobs representing one in every 11 positions and could be set to create another 20,000 jobs over the next four years with the State Government’s new action plan.

Queensland base metal region inviting global mineral explorers

In a Queensland Government press release, Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham said that the date the tenders open would be Friday the 16th of September. These tenders would open for exploration of 102 square kilometres in the region, with the potential for excavating copper, gold, lead and zinc.
