BUSY At Work Spreads Holiday Cheer with Charity Donations
In what has become a recent tradition, BUSY At Work has chosen the Christmas holiday period to celebrate their commitment to the needy by making donations to worthwhile charities on the Gold Coast and in Melbourne.
The Surfers Paradise Anglican Crisis Centre, Rosie’s Gold Coast Outreach and Melbourne’s Sacred Heart Mission each received a $4000 donation to support their work in the community.
As a not for profit organisation formed in the seventies BUSY At Work has always been keen to support unemployed youth in the community.
BUSY At Work CEO, Paul Miles said the issues surrounding unemployed youth and homelessness were important community issues which were at the core of what BUSY At Work were all about.
“The fantastic work that these three organisations undertake to support people less fortunate then ourselves is an inspiration to all of us.”
“BUSY has always believed in supporting local communities through employment assistance and through apprenticeships and traineeships. These donations are just another way in which we can make a difference,” Mr Miles said.
Surfers Paradise Anglican Crisis Centre: A Lifeline for Those in Need
Located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, the Surfer’s Paradise Anglican Crisis Centre has been offering assistance to the homeless for over 20 years. Last year the group served over 11,000 meals to homeless people. The Centre also has bathroom and laundry facilities and provides assistance to people in emergency or crisis situations.
Rosie’s Gold Coast Outreach in Southport has a drop in centre where visitors are able to get a meal, talk with the volunteers and use the resources provided. Throughout the evenings Rosie’s also hit the streets to provide food and support throughout Southport and Surfers Paradise.
Located in St Kilda, the Sacred Heart Mission has been feeding the homeless and people in need since the 1980s. They also provide aged care, crisis assistance, housing and counselling.
All three charities were extremely grateful for the donations provided.
