BUSY At Work’s partnership with Eureka Landscapes continues to reach new heights with more than 100 apprenticeships having being signed up with the commercial landscaping company since June last year.
BUSY At Work Industry Training Consultant, Emma Dickson said BUSY had entered into a working partnership with Eureka Landscapes Pty Ltd (Eureka) in June 2014 and the partnership had gone from strength to strength.
“Eureka approached us last year with a view to boosting their skilled employee numbers and supplementing their training culture. We were able to provide them with the relevant information regarding Australian Apprenticeships and the Government Incentive Program’s available.”
“As a direct result of this Eureka have been able to experience a significant uptake of apprenticeships within their business. This has led to a significant increase in their skilled employee numbers and created a wealth of skilled workers ready to progress further throughout the company,” Emma said.
Eureka Landscapes have more than thirty years’ experience across a wide range of projects in Queensland including construction of golf course surrounds, wetlands, rehabilitation and revegetation, public infrastructure and residential developments.
Eureka Landscapes Human Resources Manager, Mary Aston said Eureka was delighted to team up with BUSY At Work to support job seekers in achieving their career goals.
“We are keen to develop a highly qualified workforce who are up to date with current health, safety, environmental and landscaping practices which has the added benefit of providing our company with another point of differentiation when tendering for project work.”
“The support we have received from BUSY At Work has been exceptional and we will continue to partner with BUSY to meet the needs of our business,” Ms Aston said.
Ms Aston said while not all people went on to complete their apprenticeships with Eureka there were currently 63 people on the books who had signed up through BUSY At Work.
One such success story was Jack Emmerton who had recently completed a Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations with the company.
Jack came to Eureka through BUSY At Work. During his training Jack was identified as having a high aptitude towards operating plant by two of Eureka’s experienced plant operators, John Andrew and Jack Henricks and as a result was placed into the Eureka Plant Operator Mentoring and Guided Supervision Program.
Despite some ongoing health issues, Jack excelled in his Certificate III and with the coaching he received he has now successfully completed his Eureka Plant Operator Verification of Competency.
Ms Aston said Jack’s work ethic demonstrated true tenacity and dedication to the company and with his health issues now resolved, was ready for the next challenge.
“Thanks to BUSY At Work and the training we have provided, Jack is now well on his way to becoming a dedicated plant operator and Eureka has another safe, competent and qualified back-up plant operator,” said Ms Aston.
As part of Eureka’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, the company have also approached Boys Town and enrolled four young men to complete a Certificate III in Landscape Construction.
“The good news is all the men are progressing well and we hope they are headed towards long and prosperous careers with our company,” Ms Aston added.
