$70m Emerald Lakes residential development to go ahead

There will be more employment opportunities for job seekers and those interested in Gold Coast apprenticeships with a multi-million dollar residential development for Emerald Lakes in Carrara given the green light.

The Gold Coast City Council announced the approval of the $70 million Seachange development on July 31, with Mayor Tom Tate expecting the project to create a number of construction jobs.

“These are exactly the kinds of projects that are helping to restore business confidence in our city, for investors and also for tradies looking for work,” he said.

The project will be undertaken by Pradella Property Ventures and will be located on a 5.7 hectare site off Nerang Broadbeach Road and Lakeside Drive.

The two-stage project is designed to meet the needs of an over 50s market, with 130 attached and detached dwellings adjacent to the public lake at Emerald Lakes to be constructed.

The Carrara development will include a private recreation club with an onsite tennis court, gym, theatre, lap pool, function room and workshop.

Mr Tate added that residents will also benefit from golf buggy, pedestrian and bike pathways connecting them to existing cafes, shops and restaurants within Emerald Lakes.

Work on the project is expected to begin early next year.
