Queensland’s highest recognition for training has announced its list of finalists, with the Queensland Training Awards entering its 52nd year.
The awards recognise the organisations and people demonstrating innovation and best practice in training, with completing apprentices and trainees, employers who use training in their workplace and training organisations some of those set to be acknowledged for outstanding achievement.
Minister for Education, Training and Employment John-Paul Langbroek announced the 161 finalists shortlisted for the awards, honouring high achievers in vocational education and training today (June 14).
The finalists were selected from more than 600 entries, with categories including School-based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, VET Teacher or Trainer of the Year and Employer of the Year.
“These awards recognise the people who are working to make Queensland a great state with great opportunity,” Mr Langbroek said.
“It’s important to celebrate the achievements of those who strive to better themselves or others through training and I wish all of the finalists in the Queensland Training Awards the very best in the competition.”
The seven regional finals will be held across Queensland from July 27 to August 3, with the individual winners from each area to vie for the state awards in Brisbane on September 13.
