South Brisbane development sets new standard

A $50 million twin-tower apartment development proposed for the heart of South Brisbane is one step closer to kicking off, with the project awaiting the final go ahead.

According to a Fairfax Media report, joint Australian and Japanese trust fund Galileo submitted an application last year to Brisbane City Council to develop the apartment buildings, with the final decision expected over the coming weeks.

If granted approval, the project – which could generate opportunities for apprenticeships in Brisbane – will comprise almost 200 one, two and three bedroom apartments, as well as ground level retail property.

Located at 9 Edmondstone Street, the proposed buildings – dubbed Arena – would provide sweeping views of the city.

Paul Barratt, residential projects director at CBRE, said the development will set a new benchmark when it comes to architecture, value for money and provision of amenities.

“Apartments in Arena boast spectacular views of the Brisbane CBD, high quality fixtures and finishes and a fantastic level of resident amenity,” Mr Barratt explained.

“You couldn’t ask for a better location in South Brisbane, positioned along the quiet Edmondstone Street, yet a minute’s walk to the hustle and bustle of West End’s boundary street dining precinct.”
