Jobs in Queensland a key focus ahead of state budget

Housebuilding jobs in Queensland

In addition to the above projects, Mr Pitt said the state government is also concentrating on boosting the housebuilding sector in Queensland.

He identified the Yeerongpilly Green scheme, which will support 250 jobs, as well as the Gold Coast’s proposed Pacific View Estate development – an initiative that will build 3,000 homes and generate work for approximately 2,700 people.

“Labor has a real economic development agenda that will put Queensland on course for long-term, sustainable growth and we want to work with business and industry every step of the way to achieve that,” Mr Pitt explained.

Other key projects lined up in Queensland include the construction of a bypass at Beaudesert. Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said the scheme is critical for the Bromelton State Development Area, an industrial plot that could generate more than 18,000 jobs.

The Coomera Interchange upgrade on the Pacific Motorway will also be instrumental in ensuring a $1 billion commercial and retail precinct goes ahead in the area.
