For nearly 40 years BUSY At Work has been providing apprenticeship, employment and assistance to community organisations right across Australia.
These programs have provided skilling solutions and services to businesses and organisations with profits injected directly back into the local community to assist people facing challenges.
One such organisation BUSY At Work has developed a long association with is Toowoomba based corporation, Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company.
Local BUSY At Work Industry Training Consultant, Alan Richardson said BUSY was proud of the good working relationship they had developed with Goolburri during the past eleven years.
“Matching the right people to the right job is the key to success in helping apprentices and trainees find their ideal career pathway and we have been able to successfully place 23 school-based apprenticeships and traineeships with Goolburri during this time.”
“We are dedicated to providing a supportive environment for the trainees and apprentices and ensuring there are long term sustainable jobs for people in the local community,” Mr Richardson said.
The Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company is an incorporated community not-for-profit organisation that has been providing culturally appropriate services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Community for over 20 years.
Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company Co-operative Services Manager, Sonia Martin said Goolburri was about strengthening the families and communities within the Goolburri region while supporting them to exercise control of their own health and well being.
“We are funded by the state government and provide a comprehensive range of oral and primary health services and GP services, as well as home and community care, child protection services and the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY).”
“Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health is not just about the physical well being of an individual but about the social and cultural well being of the community as a whole,” Ms Martin said.
Sonia said a number of trainees had successfully taken up roles as dental assistants and business administration assistants.
“Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company is extremely grateful for the support provided by BUSY At Work. BUSY have streamlined the process for us ensuring our trainees will have rewarding careers ahead of them,” Ms Martin said.
BUSY At Work, Regional Manager (West Highlands) Alison Welke said BUSY was delighted with their long standing association with Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company.
“We have some excellent partnerships and relationships with businesses throughout the Darling Downs and West Highlands who truly are making a difference towards training for our local workforce. Goolburri Aboriginal Health Advancement Company is one we are very pleased to work alongside.”
Ms Welke said BUSY provides a “One Stop Shop” in helping employers get the right people for the job and job seekers in achieving their career goals.
“As an experienced Apprenticeship Network Provider, BUSY At Work is contracted by the Australian Government to deliver the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN).
“We provide a range of free career pathway and recruitment tools through the ‘Gateway Services’ program designed to assist job seekers in finding their ideal career pathway and employers with the best fit for their apprenticeship and traineeship needs.
“We have a dedicated team of Career and Placement Advisors who can assist with pre-employment screening, career exploration and employment support and best of all it’s a free service,” Ms Welke said.
