$175,000 makeover for Webb Park

Regular users and visitors to Webb Park in north east Toowoomba will be able to enjoy improved facilities come July, when a $175,000 facelift of the park is expected to be completed.

The upgrade of Webb Park is part of Toowoomba Regional Council’s capital works program for local park enhancements, which may signal opportunities for apprenticeships in Toowoomba.

The Webb Park improvements include the additions and improvements to pathways, the provision of block walling, and upgrades to playground facilities and furniture.

Environmental Health and Parks and Recreation portfolio leader Sue Englart remarked that this is indeed a good news story.

“This park is one of the most loved parks in Toowoomba, for residents and visitors alike,” Councillor Englart said.

“This will be money well spent as the improvements will be appreciated by all who use the park.”

The Webb Park upgrade joins other developments in Toowoomba including the building of the new City Library – expected to be completed by early 2015 – on the land behind City Hall.

“Council’s commitment today to building the new Library and Stage One of the Civic Square means not only will Toowoomba have a modern Library with all the latest technology, we will also have a great community building situated amongst a plaza development with parklands and event spaces,” said Library and Cultural Services portfolio leader Ros Scotney said on April 16.
