Origin Community Skills Scholarship

Origin and BUSY At Work have formed a partnership to provide a convenient and central point of contact for all queries and payment applications for the Community Skills Scholarship (Commencing 1st March 2016).

The Community Skills Scholarship was designed to assist local businesses address skills needs and help local people stay local. The program provided financial support for apprentices choosing to embark on new careers in a trade. This program is no longer open to new applicants, however previously approved recipients can continue to submit their applications for payment for the duration of their apprenticeship as well as have access to professional networking opportunities.

Approved recipients were able to choose any trade they like – not just in the gas or energy industry. Australia Pacific LNG will provide financial support throughout the duration of their studies, including a bonus cash payment should they stay on with their employer for one year following the completion of training. Employers also received financial benefits of $3,000 per business, per recipient if the recipient remains employed by the business for 12 months after the successful completion of their apprenticeship employing an apprentice.

The Community Skills Scholarship was eligible to individuals aged 15 years or older, residing in the Western Downs or Maranoa regional council or Banana shire council areas with confirmed enrolment as a first year apprentice in any nationally recognised trade employed by a business located in the same areas.
