Charity fundraiser promises to be an afternoon of fun and laughter

In what promises to be an awesome afternoon of fun and frivolity, BUSY At Work are sponsoring a charity luncheon to help raise funding and awareness of childhood cancer.

The inaugural Emma Love Childhood Cancer Charity Luncheon will be held on Friday 21 August from 1pm – 5pm at the Gold Coast Arts Centre in Surfers Paradise.

Come and enjoy a spectacular event and help out a good cause at the same time. Tickets include a sumptuous three course meal and beverages, live entertainment along with thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes up for grabs.

Luncheon Coordinator Leanne Love has been an active supporter of Cancer Council Queensland and said that the luncheon will raise vital funds for the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Childhood Cancer Support (CCS).

“Gold Coaster’s are passionate about preventing, and treating childhood cancer, but are often unaware of how they can directly make a difference,” she said.

“So rather than just ask for donations, we are asking people to join us and celebrate life, while remembering all the beautiful children that are fighting or have fought against cancer.”

“I really look forward to seeing our local community come together to share a smile, a laugh and even a tear at this awesomely special event.”

To help raise funds for the luncheon BUSY At Work has donated a prize of a $1,000 Flight Centre gift card and purchased a table of 10 tickets for the event.

BUSY At Work CEO, Paul Miles said BUSY was delighted to sponsor the event which will help raise much needed funds for the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Childhood Cancer Support.

“We are proud to support this event which will raise community awareness and provide funding towards ground breaking research into new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat childhood cancer. Please come and join us to support cancer patients and their families and help provide a healthier future for all Australians,” Mr Miles said.

Following numerous surgeries and chemotherapy treatments for the next three years sadly, Emma passed away from the disease at aged 13.

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is a world leader in the treatment and understanding of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, obesity and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. While the institute does receive some government funding another 70 cents in every dollar is needed to fully fund the research at the institute.

Childhood Cancer Support was established in 1975 to provide accommodation and emotional support to the families of children receiving life saving oncology support. By creating a home away from home, children can access life saving treatments whilst still having families close by.
